Astana – Premier Tech aims for top spot in France

A versatile group of climbers and allrounders are traveling to France to represent the blue colors of Astana – Premier Tech at the historic one-day race, Bretagne Classic, well-known one-day race which sees the peloton tackle more than 250 demanding kilometres with the start and finish in Plouay.

Sports Director Steve Bauer gives an insight on the profile:

“The Bretagne Classic will be a long tough day and the perfect one-day race to test the legs for the upcoming UCI World Championships in Antwerp. With 250 kilometres, 64 hills and almost 4000 meters of climbing, this Classic will suit a rider with great endurance, who maintains a powerful punch in the legs at the end of the day”.

Alongside Samuele Battistella, who finished fourth at the Arctic Race of Norway, Manuele Boaro, Stefan De Bod, puncheur Fabio Felline, Merhawi Kudus, Benjamin Perry and Jonas Gregaard, who showed his form at the Tour de Pologne, will be at the start line on Sunday to aim a great result.

Our riders will need to be alert after the second feed zone since the race course never stops climbing, they’re always going up and down with turns to the left or right on the smaller typical roads of Bretagne. If the race goes full gas, our guys should aim to be in the breakaway, while at the same time, we need to assess if the race will be decided on the final lap in Plouay. I am expecting a couple of our riders to be fit and ready to contest the podium”, – adds Steve Bauer.
