Jakob Fuglsang moves up to seventh on GC after climbing to tenth on Prati di Tivo

It was a brutal day in the saddle as the peloton faced two climbs in the second part of the 148-kilometre stage four, including the summit finish to Prati di Tivo.
The Kazakh-Canadian team did a stellar job in protecting their leader Jakob Fuglsang, who finished in tenth place, moving up to seventh on the overall ranking.

“I am satisfied with my result today. We knew it would all come down to the last kilometres, therefore we stayed in the peloton the whole day and waited until the finale. Approaching the final climb, I was surrounded by the other favourites and rode a good rhythm up to the finish. Being seventh on the GC now shows me I am on the right path towards my season goals. Tomorrow will be another good chance for us to go for a good stage result.” – said Jakob Fuglsang

The breakaway of the day was able to hold onto their advantage until the final ascent of the day. Tadej Pogacar made the decisive attack with five kilometres to go and was crowned the stage winner and new race leader while Fuglsang battled to tenth place, moving up to seventh overall.

Fuglsang´s teammates crossed the line several minutes down on the stage winner.
